Why we built FitOS

When we started talking to gym owners, the same story came up again and again: memberships tracked in a notebook, renewals chased over WhatsApp, and no real way to know which members were actually showing up.

None of the tools available were built for how gyms in Nigeria actually operate — multi-location chains, cash and bank transfer payments alongside card, and staff who need something that works on a phone, not a back-office terminal.

FitOS started as a single feature: a QR code at the door that tells the front desk who just walked in. It grew into a full operating system for the gym — memberships, renewals, real online payments, staff accounts, and a member-facing app that doubles as a digital membership card.

We are building it gym by gym, shipping what owners actually ask for instead of guessing. This blog is where we will share what we learn along the way.
